I’m not sure either. At some point I didn’t have rel="nofollow" on the links, so the posts would have helped improve search engine rankings. That’s not the case now though.

I think they’re using some sort of partially automated system to register and post. That’s why the subject is always the same as the username. That’d be a pretty good heuristic for blocking them, but it’s not quite frequent enough to motivate me to implement it.

They are probably trying to sell Viagra or some such thing :)
