I’m interested to find out what others pay for Seasol seaweed concentrate. We have a 4lt bottle of it and the price sticker says $44.99. Gasp! It takes my breath away to even type it.

We saw it at BigW today for $18.40. Does anybody have any idea if we were grossly overcharged on our first bottle or could Big W have their price marked wrong?

BTW, MrP bought the $44.99 one. I would never have payed that price in the first place.

are you sure the one at Big W was 4 litres? I know it can be pretty exxy.

There is some doubt about it’s volume but it certainly was a big bottle.

I bought a 10 litre bottle in the B shop for about $75. So $7.50 a litre.
Best value but a big initial outlay.
It was seasol.

I checked out our B shop yesterdy and 500ml Seasol was around $7, a 1L was $9 and a 10L was $72, so I bought the 1L ‘cause I didn’t have enough pennies for the 10L.

handy info – my old seaweed concentrate will run out one day. bulk is definitely best. i do know an organic farm supplies shop in virginia which should be the cheapest. i don’t know prices. it depends on concentration as to value.

Bought a 20 litre drum of Maxicrop multiple concentrate in 1975.. cost me the huge sum at the time of $43. Which could have taken my car to Sydney and back ten times covering some 6,000 km.

Approx 15 years later, the bottom rusted out of the drum.. had to put the remainer in another container. The 20 litres lasted me more than 20 years.

Seasol is watered down. I doubt anyone makes the multi concentrate available to the general public these days.

I’m not the general public, and I have some good contacts in the field… so I’ll see what me options are.

I need to look at gettng some more as well If I remember correctly the multiple concentrate was four times concentrated strength.. looked like mollasses.

cost me $75 back in the eighties.
i put about an inch in a drink bottle – fill with water and then this becomes my concentrate which i splash into the bottom of a 9 ltr watering can and dilute again. about 10 +years worth in this one container.

if it says multiple concentrate on the drum then yes, it should most likely be the same product.

Lerve the seasol. I got the 10 lt tub for $72 at the B shop a couple months ago. It will last me half the year.
But if anyone finds where to get the multiple concentrate, count me in to contact, please. Cheaper that way.

I’ve used a diluted spray pack of it to charge up water saver crystals and I use that in the hole when planting a tree, fruit or otherwise.
I did this with 2 dwarf citrus recently planted and I noted they didn’t skip a beat with new growth on them when bought, it kept growing and are now full leafed branches. Great stuff!

Other trees that didn’t get this treatment lost leaf at first , but then picked up later on.

I did the same with potting mixes and big diff that is for sure, my fern looks like the sad one :(

There’s the proof! Good on you for doing that experiment HP. You’ve convinced me.

my almost four year old son tried to play with the drum of maxicrop when I had been using it and the lid was off. He couldn’t
to tip it but he did manage to slosh some on m y strawberries.. so I tried to use the hose to spread it over more of the patch. The ones right there grew extra green and had more sweet fruit

My experiment was initially about the difference between the two types of fertilisers. The seasol and the non organic long acting granules. But it quickly turned to seeing if I could kill the plant with kindness because, as the weather heated, up every daily watering was with seasol for the lush one. (I intend for my garden to be completely organic anyway, but yer I was one of those annoying kids who asked a billion ‘why’ questions) So I wanted to see if it would die eventually. It just got bigger and bigger!
The experiment then turned to why spend that much money on a plant food. Well I can see that now.

But I’m still not satisfied. Surely one can over do it with seasol..?

Or die destitute leaving behind a lush green garden!
