I wondered where this got to …

We may say ‘Winter’s here’ in the southern hemisphere, but those who came before us in this place have the seasons sussed.

Many Australians go off wet or dry, warm-Hot or cold.

Many a farmer only talks about wet or dry.

This is our local one. It’s very accurate.

But I guess when you have observations for thousands of years, you get some idea.

Everything that wouldn’t germinate all the warmer months, is germinating now.
Stuff that will get killed by frosts before maturity.

Well June 21 has passed us by, and as the Sun is allowed to hang around a little longer, today feels like summer is on its way. Butterflies that traditionally visit us in the Spring are in the garden and that 28ºC temp feels more like 30º… The Great Winter of Townsville 2016 was last weekend.

We’ve been sitting between 7 and 9 degrees for the past 24 hours or so. Wind at around 30kph, gusting to 65 periodically. Very Winter.

yeah. been a bit nippy. Things around the garden are looking all frost burnt rather than sunburnt.
