Thought maybe we should catch up in here.
Thought maybe we should catch up in here.
Goodonya RB.
Busy busy, I’m older every minute so there’s less time to do stuff :)
Bees and blossoms, seedlings and soil, flowers veges, weeds and lots of toil. And youngest girl KK’s bub is due in weeks. She is here today for a day of baking. Pies to start off with then some pasta making.
She didn’t know what a bunny rug was. Oh that’s a baby wrap hey? Hehe just a different word.
Xmas is at my place this year (YAY) and thought.. I want more than just the Xmas food and table set up. I want to light up the place and have lots of sparkly things. I started with threading fairy lights on new empty wire basket halves then join the two for a big light ball, to hang above the patio table. Very fiddly but it’ll be so pretty.
And seeing as I dared to have a pot plant inside the house again after years and years of having none inside..it feels really strange..well now I have hundreds! :D It’s a job just to water and see to each’s needs. Fiddle leaf figs don’t like sun, but sansevierias don’t mind it. Various ferns adorn bathroom shelves and benches. It looks good :)

Gees we’re getting smashed with this wind. Big tree down on my silkies pen. Next doors tree, we’ll have to wait until it dies down to remove it.

I stuff a set of net lights into a wire basket and hang that up. Looks icky in daylight, delightful at night. You can hang bits out the sides if you want. I presently have a solar one hanging on the verandah.

Mt William over the plains here has been gusting 100-108ish during the morning. We went to the bush for a couple of hours and got very blustered coming back from Casterton across the saddle. I’m glad we were in the ute. Caravans would have been very much At Risk. We travelled at around 80km/hr most of the way – partly because the road is in very, very poor condition now. It might be a highway, but it is falling badly to bits.

The roof is now on the “Duck Mahal”You’d need a permit for a structure like that?
Don’t need a permit if, the structure may be easily removed. ie: temporary. A saw can cut the frame at the footings.
No, around here you would need a permit for that, because it has footings. No permit if it is a “moveable” structure. That’s like a pergola, you would need a permit.

OK. It is all about whether it is permanent or not. and if the footings are not easily removed then this would be seen as permanent.

Shhhhh…
I reckon I might try growing cucumbers upwards this season. I’ve only ever let them sprawl. I did a lot of weeding today. It’s due to rain tomorrow. I’m trying to decide if I should risk putting some of the tomato seedlings out into the ground. They are very small, and I’ve had a high attrition rate from pricking out a couple of weeks ago. I suspect the potting mix. I’ll tip that lot into the compost bin and start with a fresh bag, I think.

I’ve seen others have great success growing cucumbers on trellis. I haven’t bothered gowing cucumbers unless someone else wants me to which was when my children were here but if I was to grow them again, I’d definitely grow them upwards.
The ducks have moved in! The doors were finished yesterday and the automatic water bowls are operating. The second run has a bit more work to do but one run is operational.
Poppy?

Of the Flanders variety, yes.
Grass. Grass. Everywhere is grass. Mowing. Mowing. Lots and lots of mowing. But it is sooo lovely to have the green. The drought has broken.
Now for a very fuelly fire season.
