Here’s a thought!

People in the areas where rain is needed should mail empty buckets to somewhere like Broome, where they have more than enough precipitation to give away. The people in Broome could fill the buckets and mail them back to the senders, thereby lowering the level of the rivers around Broome, and putting water in the drier areas where it is needed.

This plan could help the country on a couple of levels … it would slightly re-balance the continent, thereby stopping the north-western part sinking under the weight of the floodwaters, and it would go a long way to putting Australia Post back into the black, although each of the filled buckets would have to be labelled as fragile, and handled gently – you wouldn’t want them upending and flooding the mail vans. That would never do.
