What are you doing in Sydney?

Research trip for a novel-in-progress. I’m attempting to write historical fiction based in Camden Park, which is where my ancestors found themselves way back in 1837. Camden Park House, which was built for John and Elizabeth Macarthur, has its annual open house this weekend so I’m here researching a bit of family history and history of the park.

The volunteers at the museum and genealogy centre were most helpful. Once they learned my surname was a rather common one in the area, they showed me all the records they had of my ancestors and one lovely lady answered all my questions about life back in the time my novel is set.

Today I went to Sydney harbour and the botanic gardens with a friend.

Excellent.
