I had a severe flare-up of very, very nasty joint and tendon pains (after the reduction of very bad swelling in the lower legs and feet, that has happened the last two summers). It’s been moving around various joints for a while now. I suspect Psoriatic Arthritis. But doctors seem to want to see symptoms in isolation.

Last fortnight’s x-rays and ultrasounds show bursitis in the feet, some osteoarthritis, and “the clinical impression of adhesive capsulitis” in the shoulders. Nothing at all in the hips.

There’s a whole range of other weird symptoms that’s been going on for about 18 months. 13 months ago, the all over itchiness was driving me crazy, and scaly skin appeared. I was diagnosed by a skin specialist as having “very late adult onset psoriasis”. I believe this is correct. It has since appeared in my fingernails. With psoriasis, there’s a 30% chance of having psoriatic arthritis. With it in the nails, it is ~70% chance.

I intend to ask the GP to send me to a Rheumatologist. A neighbour (a semi-retired GP) called by today to see us and see how I was going, now agrees.

Again, sorry if I should know this – Have you been diagnosed with Diabetes?

Nope. I’ve been tested several times (though not so recently). Everything seems fine there.

Can you tell me why you ask?

The impression of a collection of symptoms.
