Has anyone here had any luck upgrading from a computer with win 10 to a new computer with win 11?

I am finding it way harder than I expected. I did a full backup onto an external HDD, but the win 11 lappy doesn’t seem to recognise it.

Mr Kingy.

You cannot just holus bolus move everything from an old Win 10 computer to a new Win 11 computer. You can only move your data files. ie. documents, spreadsheets, pics, text files etc.

You cannot move the installed applications themselves. They ALL must be reinstalled. Photoshop, MS Office, or any other programs you may use. Fromthe oroginal material you installed these applications from. Applications you had on Win 10 will work on Win 11, but they must be re-installed.

You can copy your Win10 C: drive onto your external HDD, then copy that into a folder onn the new in 11 machine, but none of the applications you copied using this method will work.

Yes. I keep all such installation files in a folder called Software. Transfer the Software folder to the new pooter, then install everything you’re wanting from the installation files therein.
