Nah. Otherwise the authorities would be well on top of drug traffickers, human traffickers, terrorists, sov cits, corrupt politicians, pedo rings… and all the rest of it. The fact that they weren’t I think indicates that the tech can’t do all that yet.

I may be getting as cynical as Capn Spalding, but I don’t think they gaf unless it threatens their income and/or position.

I think there is just so much of it they need AI to monitor and filter it all. To eavesdrop on a half-hour conversation requires half an hour of time for the listener, even more if they want to transcribe and record it.

It might be a tool of the future, but not of the present.
