(I rarely wear long pants, and was wearing shorts at the time.)

I had spent the previous 24 hours with him and we talked about stuff. We were not close at all through life, except for those 24 hours. It was actually quite wonderful.

Anyway, I don’t have any idea whether he knew a long way beforehand, or just for the few days he was hospitalised. I didn’t think to ask. I had let him drive the conversation as he saw fit. I have been monitoring my AAA for the last seven or eight years since it was discovered on a scan for something or other.

I had my MRI on my ankle done today. It took more than 20 mins in the machine. They give you headphone because of the noise. Whirring, beeping grunting, wizzing…………………

I nodded off.

They are noisy. Very noisy.
