oh look the UN are backing terrorists again

United Nations nuclear agency chief Rafael Grossi says he’s deeply concerned by reports of another strike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says it was informed of the strike on Saturday by Iranian officials. It’s the fourth such incident in recent weeks. “Mr. Grossi emphasised that nuclear power plant sites or nearby areas must never be attacked, noting that auxiliary site buildings may contain vital safety equipment. No increase in radiation levels was reported, following the latest incident,” the UN said in a press release.

The IAEA posted on X yesterday that one of the site’s physical protection staff members was killed by a projectile fragment and a building on the site was affected by shockwaves and fragments. Russia’s state nuclear company Rosatom evacuated a further 198 of its staff from the power plant on Saturday, Russian news agencies reported.

This morning, Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi also warned of the risk of radiological release at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in a letter to the United Nations.
