Some one (it might have been Brian Tyler Cohen) said the other day that there does appear to be a drifting away of close support for Trump, within his White House circle, withing the Republican party, and within MAGA.

He attributed it to the realisation that Trump is not going to be around forever, or even for much longer, and that looking out for their own survival dictates that they need to look towards other figures who can provide a post-Trump structure.

This would be even more urgent and important if, as seems quite possible, the Democrats control Congress after this year, and possibly also the Senate later on.

So, there’s less knee-jerk defence of Trump’s actions and blunders these days, and a lot more of people saying well, you know, it’s Trump, i’m not really involved, i can comment on that, etc.

It was suggested that Trump might end up like his father, after dementia set in. He’d turn up at the office, sign fake papers, and make phone calls (but the phone was connected only to his secretary’s desk). Give him the illusion of being relevant.

Unless they do decide to ditch him altogether.

“…i can’t comment…”

they mentioned four main groups that supported trump: MAGA, right wing christians, republicans and the old rich white guy team. I believe they said that three of these groups are distancing themselves… but they did not mention anyone but MAGA… so I suspect the Right wing Christians are the stayers – since they rarely change their mind on anything even in the harsh light of absolute truth.

And there are so many ultra-right, fire-and-brimstone “Christians” in the US, proselytising or listen to others proselytise on their multitude of radio stations and TV channels.
