Years ago (around 50 years ago), I had a piece about the size of a thumb, that I kept in my desk drawer to sniff. It smelt lovely. I somehow misplaced it.
I had a nice bit of small trunk, bought it from a wood specialist. The father of my sons was buying wood for making musical instruments. All the pieces had the name of the wood and date harvested written on the end. I have nfi where it went.
It would make a lovely wind instrument timber. Hard, dense, stable (not prone to cracking).
Hmmm. Now there’s a notion.
He was making stringed instruments…violas, guitars etc. I wanted to try carving it.
