I’m a little confused about the question of ceding control of Hormuz to Iran. I understand Iran can blow up ships going through the Strait which affords them a level of control, but the shipping channels through the Strait appear to all be within Omanian(?) territorial waters. Does Oman get a say in any of this? Why are they not part of the negotiations or why are they not, diplomatically at least (if they don’t have the military to fight), trying to assert their own control of shipping transit in the area? Is it a case that Oman just going along with whatever Iran wants or are there other factors in play?
