It’s an interesting film; it’s basically a monster movie, with the monster referred to by contemporaneous critics as a “giant carrot.” It’s set in an isolated science outpost with scientific and military personnel. Released in 1951, it displays all the expected tropes of the early Cold war, ending with the scientist (who tried to understand the monster) dead, but the military commander (who wants to destroy it) victorious.
