It’s really simple: stir together 100 g flour and 100 ml (g) water in a large jar. Add the same every day for 4-5 days. That’s it. Feed it weekly (flour:water – 1:1) and every time the starter is used, to replenish the stuff taken out. I keep it in the fridge after the first week. Normally, rye flour is used.

I’m trying to make a new starter with wholemeal wheat flour only.

My last starter starved when I stopped making bread regularly, and I forgot to feed it for several months.

It should have been stored in the freezer…
