Folks are not getting their flu vaccines, which is a worry. I got mine.

I didn’t realise there had been a new Covid vaccine in Australia almost 6 months ago. (((goes bright red))) So, I seriously dropped the ball on that one. I still mask.

65% of Queenslanders are reading and writing at a 5th Grade level. I learnt that when I studied to be a teacher. The Queensland government deliberately pitch their websites at a 3rd Grade level in order to reach the most Queenslanders.

I find it very sad. Folks are stuck in concrete thinking, and they don’t have the capacity for abstract thinking or critical analysis.

Intergenerational trauma means a lot of kids are in fight, flight, freeze, fawn or fragment.

Teachers are really up against it.

And they keep changing the curriculum, which is ridiculous. I learnt across three curriculums when I did my teaching degree. The teachers are seriously burnt out by the changes in curriculum, the waste of time NAPLAN is, (it is a $3 billion dollar industry now, so we won’t get rid of it), the mountains of paperwork, and going to ridiculous Professional Development, that is beyond a joke. There is no point learning, for three hours, about a speech pathologist to help kids with language delays if they are only going to visit your school once per year. It is all busy work for no purpose.
