The only place I’ve heard that word was when I was doing a tree planting in an Aboriginal first nation’s community.
There was this kid who was jumping in each time I started digging a hole., saying “yani” and waving a plastic marijuana leaf in front of me.

This area has a high Indigenous population, but the internet tells me the name is of Greek, Malay, and Hebrew origins.

Obviously with a different meaning.
