I’m trying to get my head around risograph printing – seems to be a sort of single colour, medium volume desktop printing thing, is that right? Doesn’t have plates as such that I can make out.

I haven’t heard of it. Quick google shows it is a rotary screen printer. so you would make your screen the usual way, either cut out stencil or photo etched stencil, but unlike usual screen printing you do away with the solid frame and wrap it around a drum.

Similar to a Roneo stencil duplicator that schools had?
