Hmm. Poured a second lot of crystals down the shower drain hole, and some sort of violent reaction occurred.

Lots of hissing and bubbling and the release of a toxic gas. I’ve got the exhaust fan on in there while it clears.

Crystal therapy for drains?

(What sort of crystals are you using?)

Mystic crystals,hmmm

I’m hoping the reaction is a good sign and it’s actually working.

picric acid

Awfully had to get hold of picric acid. And dangerous too as crystals, IIRC.

Some days you nail it and some days you fail it but today, I fkn nailed it 💪🏻

Good to hear.

Meanwhile, my shower drain is still heavily blocked.

I did read that post about strong smelling chemical reaction. I can offer no advice other than, have you tried swearing at it?

That won’t do any good. I need explosives but the IGA doesn’t stock them.

Give it a good workout with a plunger.
Over.

It’s actually quite simple: instead of making a song and dance about it, call the real estate agent.

Back in the good old days you’d stock up on fireworks from the local Franklins for occasions such as blocked drains.

*for legal purposes, this is a joke 👀

When I had the plumber here years ago, he said it’s going to need regular doses of drain cleaner but sooner or later they’ll stop working.

He said the bathroom pipework really needs replacing but it’s a huge, expensive job that would require ripping up the bathroom and kitchen floors etc.

Usually need those Skeldings wire to get the hair and assorted muck

I’ll order one of those and a plunger, just in case they have any positive effect.

Yeah, it’s doing something.

The gas will be hydrogen. Hold a flame to it and you might get your explosion ;)

Have you got one of those plunger thingies?

Get the man in.

Can you turn it off and on again?

No, I’m ordering one. But it didn’t work for the plumber, years ago.

the man with the rota rooter?

I could tell the estate agent but there’s unlikely to be any action taken.

The shower does drain, just very slooowly. So I have to have a very quick body-wash shower, then turn it off while washing my hair, then turn it on again to very quickly rinse my hair, hoping the cubicle doesn’t overflow onto the bathroom floor.

May I ask if it’s full of hair?
You might need to get a length of fencing wire, bend the end into a hok, and have a dig around to see what you can drag up.

LOL

:)

Hook …

I’m ordering one of these which should have the same effect, if any.

Yep well worth a try.

Yes
I’ve had luck unclogging showers with them.
The hair from them is pretty damn disgusting

Is it gunna fit down the holes in the drain hole?

The drain hole has a removable filter thing, so it’s then just the bare hole.

Anyway I’ll have a shower this afternoon and see if the crystals made any difference at all.

Open a window for ventilation just on case. Or wear a gas mask, whatever you have lying around.

Good.

Plumbers have very good lengthy tools to unclog pipes these days. The owner would be the one who pays for it too.

In the Umbrella Academy the guys superpower was the ability to find out someone’s location by eating shower or drain hair belonging to the person

A delightfully odd show.

and there yous are

A regional museum needed to call in the bomb squad after discovering a highly explosive acid among its donated items. Historian Samuel Doering was sorting through a “backlog” of donations at the Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery in South Australia’s mid-north when he came across an old doctor’s bag. “In one of the boxes that we brought forward was this odd-looking brown bottle with a gauze sort of label on it that said picric acid,” Mr Doering told ABC Radio’s North & West Breakfast.
