I can see where she is coming from. There are times I’d rather just sit around and have an interesting conversation than get roped into playing board games. Years ago my housemate’s girlfriend always used to do this, particularly Pictionary. She was an only child, so this might have something to do with it. But yeah, some days I was just not in the mood and board games killed off a fun conversation.
we love a board game night in our house, but then everyone likes playing board games.. our nights start with the board game, sometimes two, so everyone knows it’s going to happen… and usually they morph into chatting and side quests. we have had people who don’t like playing board games, so they don’t have to play… one of the kids ex’s would play and then be a dick about everything and ruin it for everyone. they can opt out.
It not about who wins, for us, it’s about bringing people together and then we let it see where it takes us.
maybe someone should think of eSports
