Bubblecar, is a single malt whiskey better than double malt?

A single malt is a whisky made from a single distilled distillery, entirely from malted barley. Usually regarded as the best scotch whiskies but there are excellent single malts and not-so-good ones :)

“Double malt” is not an official term. It’s a marketing term that might mean two combined single malts, or two malts of different grains (e.g. barley and rye).

The most commonly sold scotch whiskies are blendeds and single malts. Blended whisky can be made from various different malts + neutral grain whisky (made from wheat). Blended whisky is usually cheaper than single malt although the aged ones can be very pricey.

There are many tasty and popular blended whiskies out there.
