Yeah, but wouldn’t be the holiday forum if we didn’t just randomly speculate on possible causes.

I’ll go first.

My guess is that the two people in there were the demolition guys, beginning to remove some of the structural members prior to the official demolition in order to save money. The wall looks to have been pushed outwards so that suggests that the bottom(tension) member of the A-frame roof truss was removed and the weight of the roof levered the brick walls away.

As good a random speculation as any.

Or they may have removed something they thought was an internal partition, which was actually holding up the roof.
