The word bluemetal always makes me think blumental
The bluemetal that covers the roads in WA mostly come from the congealed lava flow at the old Bunbury Volcano.
After India tore apart from Australia, It left a small chunk of rock, and it “bled” for quite a while.
The remainder is the Naturaliste/Leeuwin ridge.
Further inland are the remains of the old lava flow. Some of it is visible near Bunbury as the rocks there, some of it is also visible East of Augusta as “Black Point”.
Once again, tomorrow, I will be descending into to the old lava flow near Bunbury to collect crushed lava, usually referred to as bluemetal, which nearly everyone drives on every day, or has a subsoil drain under their house with it to stop clogging the drain.
I was trying to find a few pics of the last couple of visits, but I have decided I probably should eat something healthy.
