No sign of recovery yet for Vic Labor in the Ben Carroll era, as today’s Freshwater poll (n = about 1000) has the LNP leading in the 2pp at 52-48.

Still, early doors.

They need a good slogan, like: “Don’t Mess with Jess – Your Best Bet is Ben!”

I don’t know much about stuff but at present it seems that ONP is poised to nab a bunch of Liberal seats. An LNP govt will probably be a minority govt supported by ONP. Getting this point across might not be easy. “Vote ALP, we’re, you know, ordinary.”

It’s an interesting dynamic: the better the Coalition performs the more they want to distance themselves from ON given how toxic they are to moderate liberals but all this will do is rile up Pauline who wants right-wingers to unite and take back the hellhole that is the state of Victoria. An increasingly marginalised ON may even pivot from trying to take outer suburban seats off labour to trying to win rural and regional seats off the Coalition. It’s still 4 months out but a minority Labor government is a definite possibility. I don’t know what the consequences would be were Labor to win the most seats and technically the right to try form a minority government when right wing parties together command more of the chamber.
