They have utility not just as a replacement for ICE vehicles but as an extra adjunct to large battery farms used to manage the grid for when the Sun ain’t shining and the wind ain’t blowing.
Yes, but unfortunately most people with solar panels are not at home when their panels are producing, and the car is at work where it’s not consuming, then it gets home to be charged at night while the occupant is also home at night consuming electricity.
The big battery in the car is often not useful unless you also have another even bigger battery at home. THEN it all works great.
A glance at the Googbot tells me 50 to 60% of cars are parked at home through the day. Battery storage whether mobile or not will be plenty. Getting the retrofitted wiring and power points sorted particularly to places like strata towers will cause some short term difficulties but yeah…
