NSW Health does not recommend picking and eating wild mushrooms.
Watching Australian season of Alone, where contestants are not allowed to hunt land mammals, so are turning to foraged mushrooms and berries. One guy was “fairly confident” the mushroom he was holding was OK to eat, but not entirely sure because it looks a lot like a toxic mushroom.
When he cooked it, he didn’t like the taste or texture so spat it out, but I was waiting for the caption at the bottom to read, “this is a (toxic mushroom)” instead of the one he thought it was.
The insurance for that show must be enormous.
