Don’t know why the quoting/format didn’t work … but this is the episode quoting the signal flag:

Patrol Boat – S02E02 – Tango Victor

That’s the second series, where they used HMAS Launceston.

What do they say about ‘Tango Victor’, DJ? There’s no TV signal in the Tac. Sigs book. Lots of TA (tactical) signals, but no TV.

A quick glance at the episode suggests there is a military exercise taking place where, unfortunately, a naval shore party tasked with watching out for some ‘commandos’ who are on a mission to ‘destroy’ a local strategic object, find themselves captured by the commandos. After some on-shore rough-housing and now under instruction from the ‘commandos’ to tell the patrol boat that they’ve seen the commandos head off in a certain direction, the shore party includes the words ‘Tango, Victor’ within their message.

On board the vessel, after some head-scratching, they understand the message as Tango, meaning ‘do not pass ahead of me’ and Victor, meaning “I require assistance’.

After, seemingly disappearing from the commandos’ view, the patrol boat returns and captures the commandos.
