here’s an orchid I saved from a rubbish-pile… it never flowered but this year, with the great wet season we have had, it came to bloom…

It’s a bit like a Cooktown Orchid, but I am lead to believe it is a hybrid from Malaysia…

Yes, orchids can “sulk” for years, so I’ve heard…but this would be what they do in the wild, anyway…

I’ve no idea what it is. I picked it up on the nursery reject table with just a generis Dendrobium label.

I’d love to know. People keep asking me. Whatever it is it’s a good reliable flowerer.

Just been out collecting the dog poop for the worm farm. Bit hot out there so I’m going to rest inside for a bit.

Morning all.

Sure puts my garden of 6 years to shame…but then again different climate, different growing conditions (ie Brisbane v South Coast)….also cause we are on tank it is really only the vegie garden that get watered. Everything else has to survive on rainfall

Dendrobium biggibum is the floral emblem of QLD and it also grows in PNG. Some of the orchids of Australia were here from gondwanaland and others are interlopers since.
