The TV’s dead, the video player has a tape stuck in it and is in the shop and now the vacuum cleaner has carked it and the repair guy said it might cost $200-$300 to fix. It cost a fortune and it’s only 3 or 4 years old.
Does nothing last anymore?

Apparently not :( Is the vacuum cleaner still under warranty?

I’ve decided that if it’s gone for good I’m going to buy a little cheapy, until I can get a Dyson on sale, and then it can live downstairs for vacing the car etc.

We’ve been Electrolux users because they did give a good warranty but I note that she who must always have made the right choice.. has a Miele.. which has performed well indeed.

Is your vac out of warranty already Bubba? If it cost a fortune you’d think they’d give a warranty of at least years.

Must be the week for it. My car carked it on Saturday and I have a mobile mechanic coming tomorrow morning, and my washing machine decided to follow suit today. I needed that like a hole in the head. I think the washing machine may just need a new pump. I hope so because I can’t afford to replace it at the moment. Is your vac out of warranty already Bubba? Ahem, that was meant to be “at least 5 years”. I must have knocked the number lock key.
Anyway, I read that it’s not under warranty. Bummer.

++++++++++++++++++++++++
I bought a VAX upright a few years ago and Mrs reckons it’s too difficult to maneuver.
Flash one too, cost a small fortune. Make me an offer:-)
I bought a Dyson…on sale… I made big whoops on here…it has only one speed tho’: full on, as I found when I tried to vacuum the tent before putting it away…
Bubba bought hers about the same time…Bubba’s brand is to the vacuum world (so I understand) what Maytag is to the washing machine world…should be able to mention it in her Will…
What a shame Bubba! What’s gone wrong with it, and I recommend Sanyo for a cheepie…
I concur… Weirtheim are supposed to last a lifetime.. We replaced our 20yo one with a Dyson.
Indeed, the Maytag comparison is sound. Our Maytag washer is a brute of a thing. Don’t want to speak too soon, but we have never had problems with either and both are well over 10yrs old and get an absolute workout every week…

I think they are putting plastic parts in some things now, instead of the metal parts…my Bernina sewing machine is a case in point…the repair man eventually bought and put in a metal part for me…it keeps the initial price down but still…

It seems to lose power. It sort of fades away and then comes back. They told me it could be general wear and tear on the motor, which would cost $200-$300 to replace, and it’s not like I’ve used it every day. My house keeping leaves a lot to be desired.

Maybe it’s like mine bubba….doesn’t get used all that often, but when it does it has to work hard :D
Although looking at the photos of your house and garden I can’t imagine it having to work all that hard

Mine also…maybe my vacuums suffer from parts deterioration due to lack of use? What’s it called?

Ummm, no, they did comment on that. :(

They’re replaceable. Fingers crossed it only needs a service, but he did say the motor sounded wrong.

— Yep like mine
I have an Electrolux —the blue one—and a light comes on to tell you to turn the filters around and it improves the suction—-

On a good day “lived in” suits, on a bad day it’s a tip.
I get so many of my son’s mates use it as a drop in centre that at times I feel like moving out and letting them have it. I never know how many I’ll be feeding and no one cleans up after themselves. I’ve gone on a bit of a strike.
Grumpy old woman time!!!!
Hey Bubba, they lose power when the bearings in the motor get hot. They get hot from having dust enter the motor chamber, (this is supposed to be sealed from the dust.)
Rip it to bits, check it out, replace the bearings and seals as required and re-assemble.
Piece of cake.

Too late, it’s already in the shop.
Well after all that kafoofle all it needed was a service and only cost me $59.
