Is anyone here reasonable good with Outlook, specifically calendars and reminders?

I missed yet another meeting this week because the Outlook alarm (which was set 5 minutes before a 2:30 meeting) decided to remind me at 4:50. In recent months, I’d say about 90% have actually reminded me at the scheduled time, but the rest will occur at seemingly random times within an approximately three week period following the event.

Is there anything I can do to improve its reliability?

I set the mobile phone alarm to remind me to move my car before the parking inspector finds it.

Abandon it. Buy a cheap tablet.

My Samsung has alarms set for various purposes. Most reliable.

Yeah, never had a problem with my iPhone alarms either. But if someone sends a meeting invitation through Outlook, I’m disinclined to create another one elsewhere.

I wonder about that ‘synching’ thing. I’ve never bothered with it myself, but i wonder if you could somehow link a tablet to Outlook so it creates a tablet alarm automatically?

Needs advice from someone with more tech know-how than me.

Afraid I can’t offer any advice Langy, I didn’t know Outlook was still being used.

In the old days you could just ask TechTalk :)

My Outlook email account went bellyup.
I changed to a Gmail account and abandoned Outlook.

Qld Health adopted Outlook as its ‘new’ e-mail system only about two years ago.

At the time, i sent a message to the IT people: ‘Outlook. Really? That’s the best thing you could find?’.

It’s just an e-mail program. Does OK, except its junk filter is hopeless.

But as for Langy’s problem; I can’t help. My alarms seem to work OK.

I have put dates and memos into my mobile phone, they seem problematic as well. No worries if it is the next day, but put in birthdays a year out, no confidence at all, it has let me down before. And when you go in and look at it, it’s still there flagged but done nothing.

Buy a talking watch from Bright Life. $20. As well as the time has 3 alarm settings. I use it for reminders such as ABC News but can be set for any time.
