I was tempted to point out that spring started on 1/9/18 but thought I would let it slide through to the keeper.

Good morning Holidayers. According to the BoM it is 6.5 degrees in Casterton. You see, that is the problem with having the weather station so far out of town. It’s entirely wrong for the town. Down here in the valley (the weather station is up higher and out at the airport) there is frost on the grass. It is definitely colder than 6.5…

Well it’s an analogy to the Labor movement being akin in itself to a religion with it’s symbols and runes etc.

To the extent that the problem of unquestioning acceptance of “authority” is one of the big elephants in the room that very rarely gets talked about, I agree.

The same applies to the LibNats of course.

Except they’re even worse :).

Between 2011 and 2017, 259 people were accidentally killed in all kinds of different ways while taking selfies all over the world.

The most common ways that people died while taking selfies was by drowning, being hit by traffic or falling.

And it happens overwhelmingly to men, with nearly three quarters of the victims being male.

Eight people were killed by animals while taking selfies and another 16 were electrocuted in the same period.

The country where most of the deaths happened was India, which accounted for around half of all the selfie-related deaths, closely followed by Russia, the USA and Pakistan.

and there’s even a delicious new word – selficide.

I have a follicular maverick, a random coarse hair on my chinny chin chin. It’s right next to the scar I got when I was about 6. I’d been running and jumping on a bean bag but missed and banged my chin on the wooden floor. Needed four stitches, my mum saw the blood and fainted so she had her friend stay with me while the doctor was stitching me up.

With all the Russian ties to him you do wonder if he’s compromised and a moron leader to undermine the USA’s little remaining integrity

He seems mentally unwell to say some of the things he says. I don’t say that to be funny either.

Yes and determined to do the exact opposite of what the world needs

If the President is mentally unwell, then all his comments and tweets should be taken in that context.

There are also a lot of big expensive caravans on the move.

“It has taken five years for him to gather together the farrago of vague generalities, omissions, half truths and specific answers that unreliable witnesses tend to use.
For a man who should be angry, he is wary of answering questions. He will not be convincing until he takes those few short steps to the witness box.”

Three cheers for farrago, I’ll try and use it more, however apart from farrago the piece was not well written IMO.

Data at the Australian Government site only goes up to 2016 (I wonder why) but it is consistent with the graph above.

I also found another graph with the same trends up to this year, but can’t vouch for the source.

If what we need to endure the nightmare of heat at the end of the century is more electricity for more air conditioning…then doesn’t more solar make sense?

there is no feedback… dude who runs the unit and does all the lectures outsourced the marking.. he is not open to conversation about the grades unless we can prove that the markers did not follow the rubric.. he is not interested in content. He is very brash and harsh when it comes to emails.. and has no sympathy for extenuating circumstances (not that I had any for this assignment, but do for the online test coming up were I will have to get up at 2am and do it because it’s only open for one day and that’s the day I start the walk at 6.30am – I emailed him about this weeks ago and he told me that he cannot and will not make any adjustments for any reason)
He does no offer guidance.. for example his email just minutes ago to all of us on this said test is “All of the information about the quiz is in the unit outline. I have no additional information”.

I am not upset that he is harsh or uncommunicative… I am upset with myself. This guy is also current acting Dean of Criminology, so I probably don’t want to do masters under him anyway

I am not upset that he is harsh or uncommunicative… I am upset with myself. This guy is also current acting Dean of Criminology, so I probably don’t want to do masters under him anyway

He doesn’t sound like anyone would want him as a super.

I was speaking to a masters student a week or so ago.. they said that this Dean (in contrast to the one we have had for the last few years – since I have been there) told them, “I don’t give a fuck what your thesis is about, just make sure it’s right” an interesting approach.

All of which had drops GDP, other than Australia.

Syria. Should have known it was Syria all along. Well known as a ‘puppet’ of the US. We’ve seen it so many times recently – Washington says ‘jump, Damascus says ‘how high?’.

What happened to Wookie’s prediction ?

I don’t know who wrote the above but the media sometimes wants us to believe that the US is in cahoots with Syria other times they want us to believe that Russia is in cahoots with Syria.
So at the end of the day it’s best to believe half of what you see and nothing you read.

he has already said he doesn’t care about what is written about him. He’s no longer practicing but he was one of the states top criminal psych ‘experts’ and was on the WA parole board for ten years and developed the “Violent Offenders treatment program” .. I mean, he’s made his mark and I guess he either doesn’t care about helping anyone else or he’s deliberately creating a ‘tough student’ to wheedle out the ones who won’t cut it in that world. But his focus is on criminal psychology…
Trouble is, for me, this unit is the only psych unit I have to do in my degree – where my focus is on crime science.. I have no real interest (apart from a passing one) in criminal psychology.
But I should reassess this in a better frame of mind.. today I am going to drown my sorry, idiot arse in rum and if any of you have a beef with me or don’t like me.. I’m down – so commence the kicking, this is your window

yes, this was discussed in our crime through the ages’ tutorials. some notable exceptions, but certain language is expected. mainly in the media, but there is also some police witness statements that do the same. (Witness statements are written by the police officer, though verified by the witness, language is often overlooked by the naivety of the witness)

yes, this was discussed in our crime through the ages’ tutorials. some notable exceptions, but certain language is expected. mainly in the media, but there is also some police witness statements that do the same. (Witness statements are written by the police officer, though verified by the witness, language is often overlooked by the naivety of the witness)

I remember a police statement which I am sure they were having a lend a couple were charged with having sex in public and it said “With great conviction he thrust his pelvis”

The “b” in the word “Oct6ober” in the subject line looks like the Cyrillic “soft” glyph, Ь, which is not a letter but a sign to indicate palatising (or softening) the preceding consonant (so it souldn’t be after the “o” anyway,) so the word would be transliterated as something like Ostbo’e — but there’s no “r” glyph in Cyrillic, so it’d have to stop there. The “o“s would be pronounced a bit like the “o” in the Scottish pronunciation of “go”.

Not all the Roman Emperors were good and that’s why we say Caviat Emperor.
They were particularly naughty towards the end with excessive drinking, gluttony, lascivious behaviour and calendar changing.

The development of the f35B is interesting.
The Russians wanted to have a Harrier type aircraft of their own but they didn’t just copy the Harrier like they usually do.
Their design incorporated a flip up air intake for take off and landing.
The Russian plane was a bit of a disaster and was eventually scrapped however the F35B has copied that flip up concept.

The Harriers can’t go supersonic I guess, no afterburner.

This is why our twelve times tables was so good.

Yea, it’s nice in here. Got potential. Some new furniture, a few cushions, different curtains, it could be very good indeed.

Afterburners got me thinking I thought of Spitfires and how they used to chase down V1s, they would inject Nitrous oxide into the fuel and it would produce a surge of power allowing them to catch up to the evil fascist machine and destroy it so that Jimmy could go to bed in his own little room again.
It seems that any compound containing nitrogen goes off with quite a bang.
So my question is is nitrous oxide cheap to make and could it be developed as a carbon free fuel?
Over.

Looks like engineering might be the real challenge.

Wiki says:

‘Reliability concerns

The use of nitrous oxide carries with it concerns about the reliability and longevity of an engine present with all power adders. Due to the greatly increased cylinder pressures, the engine as a whole is placed under greater stress, primarily those components associated with the engine’s rotating assembly. An engine with components unable to cope with the increased stress imposed by the use of nitrous systems can experience major engine damage, such as cracked or destroyed pistons, connecting rods, crankshafts, and/or blocks. Proper strengthening of engine components in addition to accurate and adequate fuel delivery are key to nitrous system use without catastrophic failure.’

Well no, a lot of nitrogen compounds are very intert.

It goes for about $10 per kg.

Surly there’s something we can do, we have the technology.

NO by itself is not the fuel but the oxidiser. still need fuel.

Nitrous oxide is the oxidiser, not the fuel.
