cabbage, parsnip, broad beans, spinach, celery, garlic, onions and herbs like dill, coriander, parsley.

as far as preparing ground goes – i ‘spose its already prepared from previous plantings. look to cleaning out the compost heaps and the henhouse – altho’ these can be added as fertile mulch if needs be.
i’m not sure about timing in your area – or anywhere for that matter – i planted mine 8 weeks ago but i am still planting more.
strawberries, raspberries go in now.

try not to get too much blood and bone around some of those root crops or you’ll end up with salad greens…

yeah the blood and bone will offer too much nitrogen and you will get a lot of leaf growth and even forking of carrots…

——————————-
put out all your compost and lightly fork over.
don’t forget leeks – i did.
b&b is rich in nitrogen and phosphates so spread on lightly with the compost before forking – it needs potash or some of that wood ash you stockpiled. sprinkler that around lightly as well.

it depends on what you call a bit – and how fertile the ground is already.
you can spread a handful per square metre without any trouble – thicker than that and you start to have an impact.

it always depends where you are..

Australia is just such a bloody big place.. and it crosses several climatic zones.

My parsley germinated ages back, in summer. So too did my brocoli.

I’m only just sowing broad beans.

I have peas almost flowering., though that isn’t wise because it is almost frosting.

My broccoli cabbage and caulis are just starting to head up.

my garlic is a foot(300mm) tall.

but I am still picking butter beans and corn yet this is the season for persimmons, apples, pears, quinces

ain’t it true.

i’m thinking of planting potatoes in july and yet delaying my main september plantings to october. one’s a month earlier than usual and the other a month later. one’s due to rain the other due to insect infestations in early spring.

pure guesswork.
