Religious freedom panel recommends formalising ability for religious schools to turn away gay students

Discriminating based on false ideology is unethical.

They don’t seem smart enough to realize that.

How much of taxpayers money is going to religious schools?

I don’t want to pay for religious discrimination.

I don’t want to pay for enormous government subsidies to horse racing, or the underwriting by the government of the next magnificent new stadium for some wealthy football code, either.

But,then, who gives a poop what i want?

Why should they get more funding than a state school..when they are also privately funded?

The report was created by a deeply religious person.

Philip Ruddock is a practicing Anglican

Its a biased report.

If anything schools should be supporting gay students not turning them away, I imagine its critical for good self esteem they aren’t made to feel like they are bad/wrong/whatever crap some people think it is

Gender variation in nature happens all the time.

Seems religious people are going against Gods wishes.

Yeah I mentioned something like that before so God that created the huge variation in life is against gays for some reason

Teaching not accepting nature for what it is, distorts observation.

And has a negative impact on ethics and logic

Don’t you think in this day and age turning away a supposedly gay student is terrible, schools should offer support not the opposite

Except that lots of damage can be done. Gay kids have a much higher rate of mental illness and suicide.

In a multicultural country with different religions, different races, different skin color, one would expect that tolerance would be taught along side gender tolerance, not some form of veiled homophobia, discriminating against what is natural.

No and I’d have thought gay marriage been passed would have done away with such nonsense

When I started school my father put his foot down and said I was to continue be lefthanded. You’re not going to stuff up another of my kids he said. (He was also left handed.) But they did do awful things to Andrew. Like tying his left hand behind his back in class. And the ruler across the knuckles.

Yes my mum had something similar happen to her and her mother, I’m left handed as is my eldest daughter

I thought sexuality was culturally or environmentally determined, and think it should be graded on report cards

like….

Math A
English B
Heterosexuality D (comments – doesn’t apply self consistently, and easily distracted)

Are you joking?

Teaching gender tolerance would be a better choice.

He did the quadrillagy of the four freedoms.
