How about this for an idea
a phone service that women walking home alone can ring
and talk to someone while they walking home
they give their location and destination
there could be various ways to improve upon it

Are all families are available 24 × 7 even for women who are alone ?

does a midi gun sample your attacker?
How about we impose a curfew for people that would attack a woman walking home alone?

Could do, perhaps a subdermal implant once you’ve been convicted of such a crime many times and if you leave your house it alert police

the more impractical and ludicrous, the better.

When I did the stint with the railways before moving here I would sometimes finish at 2am. A couple of times I could get a lift back to Wentworth Falls station from Katoomba station on a coal train. Some station managers covering the night shift would call me on my mobile when I got off at the station…they could watch on the cctv. I’d talk to them as I walked home. Good men.

Train stations here have security guards at night, all night. A woman who fears walking home can catch a taxi from the train station, in full view of the security guards.
Or, there are pendants you can wear that send out an automatic “man down” alarm or can be pressed to get instant security response.
I personally think a woman is in more danger at home with people she knows than she is in walking home.

Yes,

Most know their attackers. In 70% of sexual assaults
the offender is a family member, friend, work or
school colleague. Of the remainder, the offender is
usually someone the person meets socially or dates.
Most sexual assaults occur in the victim’s or
perpetrator’s home, car or workplace. Sexual assault
by a stranger accounts for less than 1% of sexual
violence and an attack by a stranger in a dark place
is even less common
most girls and ladies aren’t walking home alone (in risky contexts), which suggests some sort of common wisdom already out there, a reality somewhat obliterated by the delivery style of the concerns, or nature of the inquiry expressed in the OP.
so maybe start with most ladies aren’t being sexually assaulted most of the time, and go from there.

Indeed.
