One of my most recent purchases is a second hand “Chronicle of Australia”. I thoroughly recommend it as an introduction to all of Australian history and it covers a lot more than the period 1939 to 1945.

Thanks again, Buffy. I shall return to this when I have a bit more time.
The grandfather who wrote the letter that sparked all of this loved historical stuff. Albeit somewhat selective historical stuff, though he did warm to different views towards the end of his life.
