echoes of recursion in this idea, somewhat narrow though in the context of all the other recursion that might appeal to and inhabit the evolved wetware.

i’ve consulted my planet-size brain for a word, and came up with the unimpressive term pathopath. It’s got the echo in it.

elsewhere, in this planet-size brain right this moment is likely a bunch of dendrite-like neural branches firing up, resonating, looking for structures that represent whatever, potentially in opposition to this idea.

you know I like to compare things, when I have to, and there are positive feedback loops, or it may be more some relief from the tension of something more repressive. I’m out there be sure, making a contribution to normal. Part of the pathologizing force, perhaps.

so where does it all go, pathologizing, the hobby, and the industry.

going to be busier as behaviour controls tighten up, and the more that all are well behaved the busier, though it may seem quieter.

is there such a thing, the pathopath

feel free to come up with a better word.

I think it is a fine word and I hope it catches on

Isn’t pathology is the study of disease?

I’m not following. Path… in a sociological sense, psychological sense or in a biological sense?

In a biological sense, pathogens have pathogens, on down the chain until you get to phages or prions.

In the psychological sense, pathological thoughts are destructive ones. So next down the chain would be something that destroys destructive thoughts. Such as CBT or psychoactive drugs.

In the sociological sense, pathologising would be a labelling of something you don’t like as pathological, whether it really is or not.

Whichever way you walk down it, it is a path.

it could be your input to the extent it is pathology, your contribution to the extent it is seen so, understood so. Your input to to ideas, views, the (mental) construction/s.

but more i’m getting at the necessarily imperfect workings of conscience, and consciousness.

In that case it is a recursion. I’m currently up to the fourth level of recursion.

The first level is the BS detector, as in an “everything is crap” attitude.
The second level is not trusting the first level, which can swing as far as “we live in the best of all possible worlds”.
The third level is losing the rose-coloured glasses, that’s the cynic stage.
The fourth level is mistrusting the cynic.

in the world of is your glass half full or half empty, as i’ve enjoyed the expansive analogies of self-help, building and maintaining a essential working imagination, i’m refilling the glass when I can, and don’t mind it emptying regularly. Otherwise it’d be like having never experienced hunger. Surely that doesn’t happen. Plenty of packaged whatever, on the shelves, courtesy the stores of abundance, like supermarkets, but not supermarkets.

on a more serious note, I was contemplating various enthusiasms, those from the sofa, armchair experts, the amount of time and comfort modern man has to venture into social and political ‘issues’. The convenience.

it went global way back, i’m pondering what it does to parochial humans, the dynamics local.

all those equal people operating the industrial oven, so to speak, fighting for their tweak of the temperature controls.

how hot should it be.

The purpose of news is to incite fury and violence. It’s called “drama”. Global armchair experts are similarly chosen for their extreme views, views intended to invoke fury among the parochial. The more extreme the view, the more often it is repeated.

I don’t quite follow what you mean … or do I. Do you mean that global armchair experts provoke workers into a desire to fight for their tweak of the temperature controls?

I was toying with a counter-recursion, a counter-echo, that might lend to mediation of and limit the convenience of free pathologizing, laissez-faire pathologizing if you will, an idea, an abstraction regard, to that end.
