Well done Orchid. I haven’t done much at all in the garden for ages, but today I did transplant some Hawkesbury Brown onion seeldings, planted another 20 or so garlic, covered them all with the mandatory mulch and then contemplated where to plant my new bay laurel tree. Haven’t made a decision on the bay laurel yet.
Any hints?
Oh, and I did actually plant out 3 punnets of onions that I’d grown from seed. I swore last year that I wouldn’t do it again as All of mine ran to seed after a sudden heat wave. Oh well, here we go again .

a small amount of rain has fallen so I’ll be out pulling the odd weed and looking for food the birds haven’t snaffled.
I’ll be planting more beetroot too. ;)

I’m beginning to see that the self sown plants are extremely valuable at a time when buying the type of seed you want is becoming more difficult. The old adage that you should continually bring in fresh stock to ensure genetic vigour, is countered by the argument that your own seed acclimatise to your local conditions.

genetic vigour should only be replaced when it is missing.
