I posted an image in chat which I knew was a Braconid. PM told me it was one of the Ichneumonoid wasps

This sadly wasn’t anything I didn’t already know.

Which one, was more important to me and will be researched by me as much as one simple human can by trusting that at least one of multiple internet searches may actually come up with an actual fact worthy of being called thus.

I see a lot of insects, many of which I do know by name. This one is one I haven’t seen well enough to record before.

There is so much Diptera out there.
It would be good for all of us to be able to put a handle to more of it.

Wasps are Hymenoptera, not Diptera (flies).

This is a cuckoo wasp similar to what I found at home the other day. They parasitise mud wasps.

Who is PM?

Dunno. I was trying to type PF.

Anyway, winged insects are the issue whether they have two or four.

All the wasps in my Flickr have always been listed under Hymenoptera if I thought about at the time. The Diptera have their own pages. Sadly Flickr new management have put it in plain words. Take your photos down if you want to own them.

If it flies, what is it?

Basically, Flickr say: What little right you still hold on these images depends upon you paying the ransom by Jan 8th or not.

I think we can give PF credit for not bothering to comment.

I’ve seen a lot of wasps and this seems to me one not seen by me or other people who try to photograph such things.

Think about it. Your comments are welcome if you can say which Braconid or if it isn’t a Braconid.Your laxk of comments about Diptera are also welcome.

The Braconidae are a family of parasitoid wasps. After the closely related Ichneumonidae, braconids make up the second-largest family in the order Hymenoptera, with about 17,000 recognized species and many thousands more undescribed. Wikipedia. So no not a Braconid, but closely related.

Don’t think I said anything about Diptera.
