Rake handles tend to die some sort of meaningless death.
And if you replace a rake handle with pvc pipe you can use it in a storm.

and you can create a storm of activity with a rake handle that is very flexible with a heavy head.

It has never come loose and thrown the head despite no nails or screws or rivets.
It has never broken despite all my efforts to push it past the limits any ordinary rake handle would fail.

My rake handle will soon be replaced with a hardwood stick.
I got sick of plastic shoe horns so I made one from a piece of rigid plastic pipe. Works better than a bought one.

No. There really is a worlfd of difference in what you use for a rake handle.

Actually, I was also referring to the other two topics started by Peak Warming Man: “Three Amazing Things About Leslie Nielsen” and “Two Amazing Things About Debbie Reynolds”.

Wood is good and will last for ages and even withstand some rain exposure if given an occasional coat of linseed oil and a light sandpaper.
I recenctly replaced the wooden handle on a 30 year old muck/yard rake which hardly ever got an occasional coat of linseed oil and a light sandpaper.
