I want to buy a brushcutter. One of those whippersniper things that has metal blades. (Isn’t employment great?)

8^)

Any things to look for/avoid? Good brand/model to go for?

Collie I bought a GMC brush cutter and it works ok. I use it to chop down african boxthorn amongst other stuff on my block and it does the job easy and its cheap. Had it for 2 years now with no probs plus the warranty is good

Update..

Went to Bunnings.. The staff had little knowledge. Not confidence inspiring..

There was no petrol GMC whippersnippers or brushcutters there.. The hard bladed brushcutters started at $500..

So I think I’ll hire one, at least at first, so I can get an idea of what makes a good one.. I have a theory that the people who hire them out have a pretty good idea which ones are reliable, or are fixable..

Collie I have a Stihill (spelling ?) it is petrol as I need to be able to get around this large area—it has blades and also had the cord —which I replaced with —“Weed Wackers” they are just great— but you have to have a straight shaft to have these fitted.

Also Collie you are better to go to a farm type shop as they have more knowledge of such things—
