a man in the mountains of PNG has been sentenced to death for killing his adopted son. The National Court in Hagen has decided to invoke the death penalty which is legal in PNG, but is rarely used. There is a real sense of lawlessness creeping into PNG society and the Judge presiding over the case thought that perhaps a good hanging might make the community sit up.
So far a small poll in one of PNG’s newspaper journo’s bloggo has 100% of readers agreeing with using the death penalty in PNG…
