Any contributions gladly accepted. Gall bladders can’t tell the difference between good and bad fats so “no fat” preferred, but I’m finding it a bit of a challenge.

Do you have a grill like a George Forum?? I use one of those and they really knock the fat out of the meat.

Are you after anything specific?

I have a few yummy ones but it may take a bit of typing (supposed to be packing…. almost moving day!)

Honey mustard baked chicken breasts tonight. A little over cooked but has potential.

It is true that the George Foreman griller does cover your kitchen bench with fat if you cook something fatty in it.

Why not simply try removing the source of the fat or reducing consuption of the source of the fat to less times per week.

Like the drinkers who want to stay healthy.. have fat free days.

Reminds me of one of my favourite Hagar comics:

Hagar (looking at his meal): Helga, what’s this?

Helgar (with beatific smile): Lettuce. What would you like with it?

Hagar: (the “surprised you even asked that question” look that males do so well): How about a steak, and some potatoes?

That’s a really good idea RoughBarked…altho I was advised that 3 teaspoons of olyve or similar oyl per day will prevent gallstones.

My eldest daughter has a George Foreman grill…she trims the fat as much as she can and then cooks on the grill…there is a drip tray to catch the fat…we just use the BBQ but there’s only her and a BBQ is not economical in that situation…

Lurve egg and lettuce sandwiches…have learned to eat without spreads on the bread…low fat mayo in the egg mix…back home a cafe used to fry the egg in the E & L sammy…

The bushies solved the fat problem decades past in the outback barbie.. we always used a disc from a disc plough.. the hole in the middle took all the fat out. A simple matter to weld on a channel to run the fat to a tin so it didn’t fall in the fire.

If you want to keep using your old recipes I have found that just omitting the fat works. Some of the tricks I use are microwaving the onion, garlic etc to cook it instead of frying in oil at the beginning of a stirfry; don’t bother browning the meat or chicken at the beginning of a stew or stirfry to get “flavour”, (just use oyster sauce, soy sauce, beef stock and/or gravy salt and simmer in the sauce); and you don’t need to cook the flour in butter for a white sauce, just whisk the into cold skim milk and keep whisking while heating until thick, then simmer a minute.

You don’t have to do without desserts on a no fat diet

Rice pudding

In a saucepan -
1 cup Rice flakes (also called rolled rice)
3 cups Skim Milk
2 handfuls Sultanas
Bring to low boil, stirring. Turn off heat then stir in
¼ cup brown sugar (adding this last helps to stop the bottom catching)
Stand 10 min.
Serves 4

No Fat Chocolate Cake

1 × 140 G. tub Apple puree (store bought)
2 Eggs
½ cup Caster Sugar
2 tblsp. Cocoa powder
Whisk together until smooth then stir in
½ cup Plain flour
150 G. Prunes (cut in pieces with scissors)
100 G pkt. Hzelnuts

Can micowave in ring pan 500watts 9 – 10 min.
or cook in oven.
