Subject: Rotting adeniums

My pride and joy had what I thought was a broken branch, coming up from the bulbous bit at the base of the plant, but there is another broken branch and I think the bulbous bit might be rotting…

Has anyone propagated adenium from cuttings?

There I go!

I think mine might have been overwatered about 3 weeks ago when I gave the pot plants their first good soaking in about a month…tend to not water anything much in winter…

Will try tip cuttings as advised, and put them with the other littlies undercover on the back deck…

No sorry, I’m of no help here. Is the rot from too much water do you think?

At this time of the year, yes. They should only be watered very little really during my winters, as they are almost entirely water. If they are caught in a frost, they therefore freeze and then go rotten as their insides have turned to mush.

In Rockhampton, the adeniums in the centrepiece of roundabouts are bloomin’ just luverly…I have my eye on an unusual red one… a quick snip at 2am should do it…

I’ve lost a baby one to rot for the first time ever. Mine are out in the weather so it must have been that rain we had.

Well I’m about to strike the cuttings in some shallow bowl type pots…and will be leaving them out in the sun with the potted frangis…
