I don’t have a soul. How could this non-entity be troubled?

Pink Martini – Una Notte a Napoli
A Night in Naples
A night in Naples
With the moon and the sea
I have met an angel
That no longer could fly
A night in Naples
He forgot about the stars
And even without wings
He took me to heaven
Flying with him away from Earth
Forgetting the evening’s sadness
In paradise, over the clouds
Crazy in love like fireflies
How long can it last?
How many nights to dream?
How many hours, how many days
And endless caresses
When you love to die
Close your eyes and don’t think
The time passes, love disappears
And the dance will end!
A night in Naples
With the moon and the sea
I have met an angel
That no longer could fly
A night in Naples
He forgot about the stars
And even without wings
He took me to heaven
Sadly, everything must end
But when he broke my heart
And he abandoned me in heaven
Now I am back on earth
I resigned to never love again
But I look up!
How long can it last?
How many nights to dream?
How many hours, how many days
And endless caresses
When you love to die
Close your eyes and don’t think
The time passes, love disappears
And the dance will end!
A night in Naples
With the moon and the sea
I have met an angel
That no longer could fly
A night in Naples
He forgot about the stars
And even without wings
He took me to heaven
He took me to heaven
He took me to heaven

And you don’t think your lack of a troubled soul is a problem?
A troubled soul is pretty much essential to be being an intelligent human being.

Maybe so.

I guess
Just how troubled are we talking here, Car? ‘Occasionally get pissed off with Nazis’ troubled, or ‘Can’t clean my teeth without thinking of Mummy having Sex with Death’ kind of troubled?
I mean obviously some people are very trouble indeed while others are scarcely bovvered.

I don’t think I have a troubled soul. If I’ve got a soul at all. I’m basically pretty much content. I’ve done nothing terrible, so nothing to be troubled about.

ref?
I have trouble with my souls they wear in weird patterns and would make it easy to trace my shoes from a crime scene print
My hope is that I’m just as troubled as I need to be, to enjoy my twilight years.
But am I troubled too much? Or not enough?
It’s troubling.

I don’t get bored, certainly sustain my share of mental discomfort, sustaining contradictions

Me, I’ve been a pretty hopeless chap throughout my life, and am continually searching for reasons to keep on putting up with this or that next absurd challenge.
Life is troubled as the norm. But that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not enjoying myself, when I’m not staring into whatever abyss is currently on offer.
Ive had three years of subtle harassment in some way by my very pushy neighbour next door, usually she makes noise or tries to get attention in some way.
After three years of it, its becoming very boring. Ive taken to wearing in ear headphones while I’m outside. I think she hasn’t noticed I’m wearing them.

I get subtle harassment a lot, sometimes I have to tie people up and waterboard them to get them to admit to it.

Mrs m’s father is in his late 90s and shows no signs of being a troubled soul.
This may be just a mask, of course, but perhaps not. Perhaps those whose souls are not troubled just survive longer.
>Perhaps those whose souls are not troubled just survive longer.
Maybe, but to what effect? Surely most of the world’s great art, music (and possibly even science) has been produced by troubled souls.
when I was at uni yesterday there was an ‘incident’ in the building I have most of my classes.. they shut the whole building down. Today I have just found out that the incident involved a student who needed to be talked down from the roof.. I would say that student was a troubled soul…

He’s an engineer.

This goes way deep down into my amygdala.
At the risk of oversharing… oh who am I kidding. Youse know me better than I know myself.
I’m troubled. By big things, by little things. I have days where I struggle to cope with everything around me. I have a lot of issues which cloud my mind and I can’t trust my thoughts. I think I’m ok though, generally speaking.
I have PMDD* which is controlled through diet; I no longer consume caffeine. It has made such a massive difference. Where once it was debilitating, I often don’t even realise my period is due til it hits. At PMDD’s worst, all I wanted to do was hide in a cupboard and cry for a week. I was suicidal every month. Now, if I have any symptoms at all, they are very mild. And only if I’ve eaten dark chocolate or had a drink where I’ve not realised had caffeine in it (like Mountain Dew).
*PMDD is pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder. It’s basically full-blown depression 7-10 days before every period.
