Native Rangers look after country, we need more of them. Get an idea of what they do.
>>The rangers make regular trips to special and sensitive areas within the Birriliburu IPA.
On this trip, they are on country for a week to survey track plots.
At each site everyone piles out if the car and walks in a long line across a specific area, like a search-and-rescue line, but for the environment.<<
>>Geoffrey Stewart is one of the senior men on this trip. Everyone here calls him Ululla Boss.
He has ranged over much of the deserts hereabouts, only walking into town when he was a teenager after living a traditional life until then. He is a Birriliburu traditional owner and also a senior ranger.<<

Being able to identify and date tracks and scats is a core ranger skill.
