Hello from London.

Gosh it’s a long way! 9hrs from Melbourne to Bangkok, then another 12 from Bangkok to London. And that’s not counting the wait at Bangkok and the 2 hr queue through customs. Managed to stay awake for the first leg and sleep through most of the second, which meant that when we landed about 7am London time I was theoretically ready for a new day. That mainly consisted of getting through customs, picking up the hire car and driving through London to Mr BG’s cousin’s place, where we are staying for the next few days, in time for lunch. Struggled to keep awake in the afternoon and managed to make it to 8pm when I succumbed and went to bed. Woke at 7.30am this morning and it is now 8.50am Tuesday morning. Going to have a bit of look around Greenwich today and visit the Cutty Sark.

didn’t get to see the Cutty Sark – it is under repair from the fire and all covered up.

have seen lots but have to upload some photos to photobucket yet. have had limited computer access but hopefully have fixed that by buying a little netbook. An Asus Eee 1101. Trouble is we bought it in Germany so the keyboard layout is a bit different and Windows is in German!

Hi folks. In Bath, England. Called such because of the hot spring fed Roman baths that were built here. Also for a time the home of Jane Austin.

We were told that the city we see above ground is but the half of it, as there is as much under our feet as can be seen above. So tomorrow we are going down below! It seems the current buldings which date from the Georgian era were buílt over the original Roman city which now consists of tunnels under the city. The 4 story buildings have another 2 floors below, with swimming pools that extend under the roads. Many owned by movie stars and other celebrities.

The age of places here is mind blowing!

It wouldn’t happen in Oz: we’d knock ‘em down for $$progress$$ and more particularly, $$development$$

That sounds so interesting. Aus is such a young country compared to Europe etc.

BlueGreen, that box garden at that restaurant in Bath: was it just herbs, or herbs and salad greens? What do they use for a divider, and how tall were the sides???

When it is time to be awake, I found sitting out in the sunshine doing nothing really helped me recover. If you’ve got some sunshine available..

Bimbo went back to work the next day and though she struggled, she pulled up better than her travel companion, who took a week off work.

yep, I was doing that this morning, going outside in the sun. Couldn’t sleep in the end so got up again. My brain feels sleep-deprived but the rest of me is not tired. Just can’t focus on anything for long.

Mr BG although more experienced at traveling didn’t go to bed until after I got up this morning, so feels worse than me I think. And he has got to go back to work on Monday!

How’s poor little Percy coping with all this jetlag? I guess because he’s so young it doesn’t affect him as much?
