I’m putting this here so that in a 1000 years time when people from the future are browsing through old records they can say.
“Hey luv, have a look here and see what the Ancients thought.”

They are a collective of repressed peasants suffering class discrimination because of the colour of their blood and because they dont tub very often.

I watched the video that placed the scattered facts I already knew in a more understandable order, worth viewing.

Anway enough of this.
It really is a good documentary, it compacts the timeline so it all makes sense.
Basically it was all driven by climate change and traces the evidence of humans in Briton, the early ones were wee people who were surplanted by the neanderthals who were in turn driven out by climate change but returned again and again.
Meanwhile in darkest Africa something was happening, a new human species was developing, a species that would develope iron axes and put a man on the moon.
Great and terrible thing.

It dealt with much earlier people than those and even the use of woad.

OKOK, I’ll watch the video.

But not just now.

Coincidentally I’m reading Tim Flannery’s latest book that covers this period (plus the preceding 99 million years).

I’ll see if they have the same story.

Woad is derived from “a yellow-flowered European plant of the cabbage family. It was formerly widely grown in Britain as a source of blue dye, which was extracted from the leaves after they had been dried, powdered, and fermented.”

Wiki

Never wondered where it came from but interesting nevertheless. A good blue dye I thought was unusual, but was actually easily acquired.

I think you might find that that’s what coloured their blue blood.

I’ve seen it before.

Very long-winded introduction. Had to imagine Tony Robinson reading the script instead of this bloke. The upwards inflexion at the end of each sentence is a bit annoying.
