Good news. Well, for me anyway.
Avocadoes can be mashed when ripe, with lemon juice, then put the seed back into the pulp, seal and freeze for future use.
Very handy as avos are really cheap right now.
When you thaw it out, the surface will brown off a bit if it’s left too long, but you can just mix it back in and serve. Taste is retained.
If you already knew this, then you should have told me earlier.

I knew that if you store a cut avo with the seed in place it doesn’t go brown. I’m positive I told you about this little trick. Maybe!!!!

Yes, i knew about leaving the seed in the avo. However, i’m talking about freezing the avo for use in the off season.
Apparently it’s what mex restaurants do. They blend the ingredients of guacamole and store in the freezer with the seed also blended into it. Apparently works the same.
HP, use a chinese takeaway container or similar to store the lemon juice/pulp, with the seed pushed into it. Snap the lid on and store in the freezer.

I’m still trying to work out if they put the pulp plus seed back into the skin, or if they’re just sealed in a ziplok???
Sorry to lack imagination here…

Somehow the seed prevents the flesh from browning. Browning is the worst part of avocados.

I have no idea why the seed of an avocado should be left in the fruit for storage. However, i do know that if you remove the seed and store the fruit, it will go off really suddenly.
Pom. Throw the bloody skin in the worm farm. Mash the flesh with some lemon juice, put it in a container. shove the seed into the pulp. Stick the lid on and freeze it. Fair dinkum. Bluddy Qbilly.

It wasn’t Pom, it was me that asked the dumb question…
One more: one seed per container of pulp? I’m thinking the little 3/4cup volume containers here…those Glad ones with the blue lids…

I know it’s not trad but I’ve had it with crumbled crispy bacon stirred through and it was yummy. A bit of cumin goes well too.

Course i am. With airlines PNG. Those twin otters are safe as houses.
Whatever happened, wasn’t the plane’s fault. The one i flew in when i was in Yemen had a series of holes down the fuselage from a burst of AK 47. Still flew OK though. What’s that got to do with avocados anyway?
