The bus wars are over and electricity has won — thanks to a big boost from China.

In fact, when it comes to electric bus purchases, China is outpacing the United States by an astounding 421,000 to 300 as of the end of 2018.

Thanks to China’s massive investment in and support for electric buses, electrics are now racing past a 50% share of new bus sales worldwide, according to a recent analysis by Bloomberg NEF (BNEF).

I talked to a local green councillor today on facebook about this. He mentioned that the north of the state is buying diesel buses on the understanding that they can be converted easier in the future…

I don’t think they get it.

How does diesel beat hydrogen?
Or even natural gas?
Or even petrol hybrid?

I think the move to diesel for small vehicles is now being seen as a mistake in Europe. They are still highly polluting, even if CO2 emissions are lower than petrol.

A good example of what happens when legislation goes wrong, penalise CO2 and sooty particulates rise. And quickly as well, I get British car mags, market went passenger diesel very quickly. Resale must be a bugger now.
